Where Is Chris Tucker? Jackie Chan Needs Him for 'Rush Hour 4' (And So Do We)
www.inhandnetworks.com
Ten years have passed since we last saw detectives Young Lee and James Carter taking down the Chinese mafia on the big screen in the Rush Hour franchise. Now, Jackie Chan, who played Lee in the first three movies, is calling on Chris Tucker, his screen partner, to agree to Rush Hour 4.
In an interview with Power 106’s The Cruz Show Wednesday, Chan revealed that there was indeed a Rush Hour 4 in the works. But there is one problem: Tucker has not yet signed on.
“[It’s coming] next year,” Chan said. “For the last seven years, we’ve been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed.”
Keep up with this story and more by subscribing now
Although Chan seemed excited to finally have another Rush Hour in the works, he made it clear that if Tucker wasn’t involved, he wouldn’t be either.
“Next year [we’ll] probably start—If Chris Tucker agrees,” he said. “It’s not about money! It’s about [having] time to make. I tell Chris Tucker, ‘Before we get old, please do Rush Hour 4.’”
Despite being 64 years old, Chan does not believe he or his 46-year-old castmate are too old to create another action-packed film. “Rush Hour you can do anytime,” he said.
In their last outing, 2007's Rush Hour 3, the partners were causing mischief in Paris during a mission to find an infamous mob boss. In Rush Hour 2 (2001), they were causing trouble in Lee’s native Hong Kong after an explosion at the U.S. embassy killed two Customs agents. And before that, when the unconventional duo was first teamed together, they were tearing up the streets of L.A. to find a Chinese diplomat's daughter who had been kidnapped.
Tucker, once one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, has kept a low profile in recent years. With the buddy-cop franchise and the classic Friday under his belt, the former Def Comedy Jam icon seems to enjoy staying out of the spotlight, appearing on screen occasionally in small roles like Danny in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook. In 2015, he re-emerged briefly for his own stand-up special on Netflix.
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times ahead of his Chris Tucker Live Netflix special, the actor said he’s still been hard at work.
“I went back to my roots,” Tucker said. "Having a lot of fun. It's been great doing what I wanted to do. I never stop working. I'm always on the road, honing my craft. I'm touring around the world: Australia, the Middle East, Asia, Malaysia, Singapore.”

“ApexSQL Generate is a very effective data generator tool that helps developers to populate SQL databases through the predefined generator with hundreds of meaningful data types.”
During the application development period, we mainly consider three limited sources. These are:
Money
Time
Human resource
Moving from this idea, we should use these sources carefully and economically. Most likely, a poorly tested application can cause waste to these resources. The following cost of the bug-fixing graph explains that the cost of the bug-fixing is increasing dramatically after the production publishments.
At the same time, fixing the bugs in the production is risky and can cause grumbles from the customer. Briefly, a well-tested application releases gain prestige before the production and prevent from spending more money.
There is no doubt that software testing is a very wide topic and it includes various methods and approaches. A software that is tested with meaningful and realistic data is a crucial point to succeed in the testing operations. A properly prepared test data environment allows us to simulate a close production ecosystem. After this small information about the importance of software testing and test data generation, we will particularly focus on how we can generate test data for SQL Server. At first, we will review common SQL data generator options.
SQL test data generation methods
In order to create test data for SQL Server, we can use several different techniques. The most prevalent ones are as follows:
Manual test data generation: This option is a very simple and primitive technique in order to create test data generation. Most often, we use SQL queries to perform this option, however, for every new test data requirement, we should code a new query or change the existing one. This technique has some disadvantage such as it is laborious, causes time-wasting and also depends on personal effort.
Restoring test data from the production: This method is based on a very simple approach. Take backup from production and restore the backup and then offer it for test operations. The advantage of this technique is very simple, however, we have to secure sensitive data for regulatory compliance. On the other hand, big data sizes may lead us to time and source wasting because moving and restoring the large files will be very compelling.
Obviously, these two methods have disadvantages and for this reason, we will steer our eyes to another advanced SQL data generator solution of the ApexSQL.
ApexSQL Generate allows us to generate meaningful and realistic SQL test data for SQL Server. Its GUI is intuitive and easy to use and generation process for large data sets is comparatively fast enough. ApexSQL Generate provides the whole options listed below so that we can avoid wasting time in order to create SQL test data:
Allows generating meaningful and predefined SQL test data
Easy usage and fast SQL test data generation ability
Allows automating SQL test data generation
Exports generated test data from common data sources
Provides foreign key consistency during SQL test data generation
It also provides various SQL test data generation scenarios. For example:
ApexSQL Generate reads the schema of the database and determines the types of the test data and then according to the column name, it offers a predefined meaningful test data for the usage.Sometimes, in this manner, we can handle the whole task.
Generate SQL test data with predefined generator
In this part of the article, we mentioned about the predefined generator in the ApexSQL Generate and learned the usage of this option with a very simple example. ApexSQL Generator offers an advanced predefined data generator and this generator also has capable data type prediction ability.
Note: In all examples, we will work with an Azure SQL database and a sample table named customers. At the same time, you can perform this example for an on-premise SQL Server versions.
We can create this table through the query:
IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM sys.objects WHERE name = 'customers') DROP TABLE [dbo].[customers]; CREATE TABLE [customers] ([customer_id] [INT] IDENTITY(1, 1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED , [first_name] [VARCHAR](255) NOT NULL, [last_name] [VARCHAR](255) NOT NULL, [phone] [VARCHAR](25) NULL, [email] [VARCHAR](255) NOT NULL, [street] [VARCHAR](255) NULL, [city] [VARCHAR](50) NULL, [state] [VARCHAR](25) NULL, [zip_code] [VARCHAR](5) NULL ); GO
ApexSQL Generate supports Microsoft Azure SQL as a data generator tool so that we can easily generate SQL test data for Azure SQL. We will launch the ApexSQL Generate. In the Data Source tab, ApexSQL Generate offers two types of metadata source option which are:
The Live database allows us to connect to any on-premise SQL Servers or SQL Azure.
SQL Script allows us to use any SQL script that includes table creation scripts.
We will select the Live database option and directly connect to the Azure SQL database and then click the Load button.
In this process, ApexSQL Generate reads the schema of the database and determines the proper types according to column data types so that we don’t have to deal with this work.
After the loading process, the ApexSQL Generate project window meets us. In this window, we can change the types of test data and we can also set and change various options of the test project.
As you can see in the above image, ApexSQL Generate automatically assigned the meaningful predefined test data according to columns data types and names. In the data preview grid, we can see the sample of the assigned test data:
In the generator panel, we can change the predefined type for the individual columns. For our example, we will change the first_name column as the First name (female) and the changing directly occurs in the data preview tab.
ApexSQL Generate provides 224 total number of the predefined data types so that we can generate more meaningful and realistic SQL test data easily. Also, these datatypes are separated into categories for easy usage so that we can find out the required predefined datatype in a very short time. Under the following categories, we can find various predefined data types:
Art
Auto industry
Business
Education
Food and Beverage
Geographical
Health
IT
Payment
Personal
Product
Now, we will generate our first test data in one click. We click the Generate button and approve the action plan.
After the test data generation process, the Post generation summary window meets us and gives detailed information about the test data generation process.
In the Generator panel, we can set the number of SQL test data. With the help of the ApexSQL Generate you can create more than millions of rows of SQL test data into SQL Azure and there isn’t any limitation in the ApexSQL Generate.
Performance benchmark
The crucial factor which is affecting the performance of the SQL Azure is Purchase Models. The below chart illustrates the performance of the SQL Azure in different service tiers and DTUs. In this test, ApexSQL Generate is used as a data generator tool in order to populate the data.
Conclusions
In this article, we discovered essentials of the SQL test data generation methods and then we learned the usage of the predefined generator in ApexSQL Generate. ApexSQL Generate is the most powerful and effective SQL data generator tool to generate test data for SQL Server. SQL test data generation is a pretty common task and if we want to further facilitate this task, we should use ApexSQL Generate.

Benchmark: Data migration to Azure SQL Database using DMA 3.2
DMA 3.2 enables schema and data migration from an on-premises SQL Server database to an Azure SQL Database. The data migration pipeline is built atop the SQL bulk copy technology and lets you quickly and reliably move data from your source database into your target database. There are many variables that can affect the performance of this data migration: the number of cores on the machine running DMA, the speed of your internet connection, the size of the database you’re migrating, and more.
For now, let's focus on two variables: the target database's service objective (which can be set through the Azure portal, through PowerShell, or through SSMS) and the number of parallel tasks performed by the data movement pipeline (which can be set in DMA’s configuration file).
An Azure SQL Database’s service objective (e.g. S0, P1, P15) indicates the level of performance that the database is capable of. Generally speaking, you will get faster and more reliable data movement with higher service tiers and performance levels. We recommend that you set your target database to level P15, at least for the duration of the migration, to make it as quick and smooth as possible. For more information and instructions for changing your service objective, see here.
The number of parallel tasks used in data movement controls the number of batches of data that can be written in parallel to your target. The pipeline splits the rows of your source tables into batches in order to insert them into your target tables. With more batches being written in parallel, you increase the number of DTUs utilized on your target database, but you can sometimes get faster data movement.
By default, the number of parallel tasks is not static. It is calculated according to the following logic: if your target database is in the Basic or Standard service tiers (Basic, S0, S1, S2, S3), we will set this number to 4. Otherwise, we use this formula (where “cores” is the number of cores on the machine running DMA):
cores >= 8 ? cores * 4 : cores * 2
So, for a 4-core machine targeting a P15 database, we would use 8 parallel tasks. For a 16-core machine targeting a P15 database, we would use 64 tasks. For a machine of any size targeting S0, we would use 4 tasks.
However, if you would like to experiment, this logic can be overwritten to use a fixed number of your choosing. In DMA’s configuration file (Dma.exe.config, located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Data Migration Assistant), you will see a line like this (commented-out by default):
<!--<add key=”QueryTableDataRangeTaskCount” value=”4”/>-->
You can un-comment this line and tweak the value to control the number of tasks done in parallel by the pipeline.
Following is some sample data illustrating the effects of service objective and parallel task count on migration duration. All of these migrations used the same 220gb source database and were run on a 16-core machine.
Note that these results were fairly specific to our database and our setup; with a different set of parameters, you may get different results. They are just meant to give you a rough idea of what the performance looks like. For example, our source database had only a small number of tables, but they were quite large. This meant that when we increased the number of tasks, we actually slowed things down a little overall, because we ended up parallelizing more within a table rather than across tables. In general, it's faster to do multiple tables in parallel than it is to do multiple batches from the same table in parallel. So, just keep that in mind if you're experimenting with these settings.
Miscellaneous notes
There are a few other things to take note of when migrating data to Azure SQL Database through DMA:
Migrating heaps
Tables without any indexes (heaps) will be slower to migrate than tables that have indexes. This is because the lack of indexes means we cannot query the data and split it into batches for processing as quickly.
Migrating to a Standard-tier target
When trying to migrate a medium-to-large source database to a Standard-tier Azure SQL DB (e.g. S0, S1), you may get better results if you decrease the maximum batch size in DMA's configuration file (Dma.exe.config). Look for this line:
<!--<add key="MaxBatchSizeKb" value="262144"/>-->
The default is 262,144 kilobytes, or 256 megabytes. You can try un-commenting this line and setting the value to 131072 (for 128 megabytes). In our testing, using a max batch size of 131072 and the default number of writers (4), we migrated our 220gb database to an S1 target in roughly 2 days and 17 hours. Doing the same with an S0 target took roughly 4 days and 10 hours. So it will work, but the process will be more efficient with a Premium-tier target.

Curiosity Rover Provides First Confirmation of a Mineral Mapp industrial cellular modem3g modem  ed from Orbit
www.inhandnetworks.com
This image shows the first holes drilled by NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity at Mount Sharp. The loose material near the drill holes is drill tailings and an accumulation of dust that slid down the rock during drilling. Image Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/MSSS
A sample of powdered rock extracted by the Curiosity rover’s drill from the “Confidence Hills” target has provided NASA scientists with the first confirmation of a mineral mapped from orbit.
“This connects us with the mineral identifications from orbit, which can now help guide our investigations as we climb the slope and test hypotheses derived from the orbital mapping,” said Curiosity Project Scientist John Grotzinger, of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.
Curiosity collected the powder by drilling into a rock out iiot  crop at the base of Mount Sharp in late September. The robotic arm delivered a pinch of the sample to the Chemistry and Mineralogy (CheMin) instrument inside the rover. This sample, from a target called “Confidence Hills” within the “Pahrump Hills” outcrop, contained much more hematite than any rock or soil sample previously analyzed by CheMin during the two-year-old mission. Hematite is an iron-oxide mineral that gives clues about ancient environmental conditions from when it formed.
In observations reported in 2010, before selection of Curiosity’s landing site, a mineral-mapping instrument on NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter provided evidence of hematite in the geological unit that includes the Pahrump Hills outcrop. The landing site is inside Gale Crater, an impact basin about 96 miles (154 kilometers) in diameter with the layered Mount Sharp rising about three miles (five kilometers) high in the center.
“We’ve reached the part of the crater where we have the mineralogical information that was important in selection of Gale Crater as the landing site,” said Ralph Milliken of Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. He is a member of Curiosity’s science team and was lead author of that 2010 report in Geophysical Research Letters identifying minerals based on observations of lower Mount Sharp by the orbiter’s Compact Reconnaissance Imaging Spectrometer for Mars (CRISM). “We’re Industrial IoT Router/Gateway   now on a path where the orbital data can help us predict what minerals we’ll find and make good choices about where to drill. Analyses like these will help us place rover-scale observations into the broader geologic history of Gale that we see from orbital data.”
Much of Curiosity’s first year on Mars was spent investigating outcrops in a low area of Gale Crater called “Yellowknife Bay,” near the spot where the rover landed. The rover found an ancient lakebed. Rocks there held evidence of wet environmental conditions billions of years ago that offered ingredients and an energy source favorable for microbial life, if Mars ever had microbes. Clay minerals of interest in those rocks at Yellowknife Bay had not been detected from orbit, possibly due to dust coatings that interfere with CRISM’s view of them.
The rover spent much of the mission’s second year driving from Yellowknife Bay to the base of Mount Sharp. The hematite found in the first sample from the mountain tells about environmental conditions different from the conditions recorded in the rocks of Yellowknife Bay. The rock material interacted with water and atmosphere to become more oxidized.
The rocks analyzed earlier also contain iron-oxide minerals, mostly magnetite. One way to form hematite is to put magnetite in oxidizing conditions. The latest sample has about eight percent hematite and four percent magnetite. The drilled rocks at Yellowknife Bay and on the way to Mount Sharp contain at most about one percent hematite and much higher amounts of magnetite.
“There’s more oxidation involved in the new sample,” said CheMin Deputy Principal Investigator David Vaniman of the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson, Arizona.
The sample is only partially oxidized, and preservation of magnetite and olivine indicates a gradient of oxidation levels. That gradient could have provided a chemical energy source for microbes.
The Pahrump HIlls outcrop includes multiple layers uphill from its lowest layer, where the Confidence Hills sample was drilled. The layers vary in texture and may also vary in concentrations of hematite and other minerals. The rover team is now using Curiosity to survey the outcrop and assess possible targets for close inspection and drilling.
The mission may spend weeks to months at Pahrump Hills before proceeding farther up the st applications  ack of geological layers forming Mount Sharp. Those higher layers include an erosion-resistant band of rock higher on Mount Sharp with such a strong orbital signature of hematite, it is called “Hematite Ridge.” The target drilled at Pahrump Hills is much softer and more deeply eroded than Hematite Ridge.
Another NASA Mars rover, Opportunity, made a key discovery of hematite-rich spherules on a different part of Mars in 2004. That finding was important as evidence of a water-soaked history that produced those mineral concretions. The form of hematite at Pahrump Hills is different and is most important as a clue about oxidation conditions. Plenty of other evidence in Gale Crater has testified to the ancient presence of water.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of Caltech in Pasadena, manages the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and Mars Science Laboratory projects for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington, and built the Curiosity rover. NASA’s Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California, developed CheMin and manages instrument operations. The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, Maryland, developed and operates CRISM.
